The drive-thru is a vital part of the McDonald's experience, and making sure every order is accurate is a key component of a successful trip to the golden arches. Earlybird has worked on numerous drive-thru initiatives including the display used to confirm a customer's order. We designed informative visual queues and animations to enhance the experience for both the crew member and the customer.

Tyco's service technicians were relying on outdated combination of hardware and software, and partnered with Earlybird to bring their application up to date with the latest available technology. The previous app ran on a stylus-dependent Windows Mobile platform, and we overhauled the functionality from the ground up for the touchscreen iOS environment. A newly simplified workflow, and added features have increased productivity across the board.

SmartActions is the ultimate digital personal assistant, and automatically manages your device based on your context and surroundings.

Earlybird partnered with Motorola from the initial ideation sessions, through product launch, and ultimately second and third iterations of the app. Beginning in November of 2011, SmartActions has shipped on each of Motorola's flagship mobile devices. Today, it is used by millions of people to manage their digital lifestyles.

ADT Security's install technicians were using outdated software to manage their workday, and Earlybird was asked to create a brand new application for Windows 7 on the Dell Duo. Technicians had been relying on multiple applications to do their job, and we were able to blend all of the necessary functionality into a single, straightforward application. We also transitioned what had been a labor-intensive point and click interface to a streamlined touchscreen UI. The new application saved time, made the techs' jobs easier, and surpassed the expectations of ADT's business stakeholders.

PNC Bank's Virtual Wallet is a fun and engaging take on money management software. Through a highly visual set of interactive tools, users are able to manage their budget, savings goals, and bill payments. Virtual Wallet expresses complex financial concepts in a way that even the most mathematically-challenged individuals can understand. It enables users to take charge of their financial health and turns an otherwise daunting task into a fun & enjoyable experience.

Earlybird (supporting IDEO) developed the visual & interaction design language for the Virtual Wallet software.

Virtual Wallet has won more than a dozen awards, including a 2010 Gold IDEA award and a Spark! award.

McDonald's asked Earlybird to develop global user interface guidelines for their broad array of kitchen equipment. The guildelines standardized their UI experiences and created a document that provides resources and support for their manufacturing partners. By creating a baseline for usability, training time has been greatly reduced, and McDonald's has been able to reach a model of unmatched efficiency in the QSR world.

MotoCast is a free desktop, web, and mobile service that allows users to stream content from their computers to their phones and tablets. It began shipping on all Motorola devices, starting with the Droid RAZR, and keeps people within reach of their favorite music playlists, pictures, and documents.

Earlybird worked with the Motorola team to streamline the initial setup process, and make the Motocast web app a rich and inviting experience.

Earlybird partnered with McDonald's to transform a cumbersome interface and an inefficient piece of kitchen equipment into an easy to use, energy conscious device. We analyzed the crew's workflow, built interactive simulations, and moderated research sessions throughout the iterative design process create an groundbreakingly efficient UI solution.

The HD UHC is the heart of McDonald's kitchen, and it's never had such a healthy and vibrant pulse.

We were asked to improve the usability of the tab navigation structure in this cardiovascular reporting application. Doctors use this software to record their diagnosis while looking over a wide range of test results, so navigation within the app is particularly crucial.

Because of the condensed development timeline, we were asked to focus on recommendations that would create the greatest improvement, but would require the least amount of coding on the backend. The changes are subtle, but the new tabs, icons, and information hierarchy have had a dramatic impact on the usability of the application.

Earlybird worked with the Jarden team to develop a touchscreen interface for the Crock-Pot Touchscreen Slow Cooker. Using eLume technology, this appliance dynamically alters its state based on user input and cook time. It's a first to market innovation that's been well received by users.

Earlybird worked with the Motorola team to develop the user experience from the ground up, covering functionality across all core applications for this Android-based solution. The result is a streamlined device with a fresh take on multi-tasking, combined with the rugged dependability PTT users have come to expect.

Created for Bayer (supporting IDEO), this blood glucose meter is designed to plug & play with your computer. Through a simple and easy to use interface, users log both quantitative and qualitative data for each blood test. When plugged into a computer, the history and trends are visualized for the patient and doctor. 

This innovative product received a 2010 Medical Design Excellence Award and is now available in drugstores everywhere.

Healthometer called upon Earlybird to help develop a new, patented strategy for Healthometer's digital scales. Existing product categories were evaluated and redesigned to improve functionality and usability. Earlybird delivered global guidelines for UI strategies as well as detailed solutions for both Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Fat monitoring products.

Media Link users can easily transfer, sync and manage content on Motorola Android phones using this handy application for Windows and OSX.

Earlybird worked with the Motorola team to develop a new and improved visual design language that exudes a clean & crisp aesthetic. Based on key research findings, improvements were made to interactions and functionality that enable greater overall usability for end users.

SmartShopper is a voice activated grocery list organizer. Earlybird worked with the SS team to develop the product's user interface and Quick Start Guide, as well as interactive demos and sales tools. Launched in 2007, SmartShopper quickly became the #1 selling product for Neiman Marcus. It has been a hit for many other retailers including Amazon, Brookstone, and Sur La Table.

SmartShopper has been recognized as a Top 10 product at CES, Best of Show at the International Home & Housewares Show, and was recently named the Amazon.com Housewares Rookie of the Year.

Oster asked Earlybird to assist with the development of their first ever digital blender.

Transitioning to a digital UI allowed for improvements to existing settings and options, as well as some new features that didn't exist in analog versions of the product. Earlybird helped Oster identify and execute a multi-tiered solution for the product category.

Favorite feature of this new blender? The "Crush Ice Mode" which includes a dancing ice cube animation on the LED display.
